Slowly Natalie lifted her eyelids. She tried to turn her head but, a hand held her back. She screamed as the force tightened around her neck. She also noticed a glow of a very sharp blade few inches from her face.
‘Shh’ the person who held her hushed her.
Natalie begun panting, terror running through her veins. She hardly recognized where she was. It was dark with only the moonlight passing through the shutter windows to illuminate the room.
“Who… who are you? What do you want?” she asked gathering courage.
“There’s only one person who has a twin key to your door.” A familiar voice replied but, more hoarse than Natalie remembered.
The kidnapper released Natalie and Natalie spanned around to face her.
Yes, it was her. Caitlin… but, she looked horrible wearing a black cloak and covering one side of her face with her hair.
“Caitlin?” Natalie whispered. “What happened to you?” she asked, tears sparkling her eyes.
Caitlin pulled back her hair covering her face, just a little with her finger.
Natalie gasped and covered her mouth immediately, grimacing. She beheld Caitlin’s half disfigured face. It had ridges and odd furrows that could make anyone scared.
Caitlin released her hair again.
“Jesus! What did they do to you?” Natalie cried.
“It’s no time to worry about me-”
“What are you talking about? You’re hurt.”
“Natalie. Listen to me!” Caitlin shouted begging for attention. “What happened to me doesn't matter but, what’s gonna happen to you is what counts.”
Natalie was silent, sobbing. She could not get over the sight that she was seeing. There she was, Caitlin, destroyed, ruined. Who knows what she had been through since they last parted.
“Natalie, you can’t go back to Hamerton.” Caitlin said. “You can’t trust anyone. No one should say to you that she is your friend.”
“What are you talking about? Who did this to you?” Natalie cried indignantly.
Caitlin looked down and said. “Erin. Erin Shawn.”
“God.” Natalie sighed.
“She lied to me. She said that she would help me. She’s the one who did this to me.” She paused. “She had no guts to kill me however, she did this to my face and had Mr. Dickson take Ralph far way from me.”
“Your dad?”
“He’s married now. He forgot all about us but,” she released the knife that she was still holding and grasped Natalie’s hands. “You can’t go back to Hamerton. They will do to you worse than they did to me. Promise me that you will never go back to that dreadful place? Promise me Natalie?”
Natalie swallowed. “Caitlin, I am so sorry for you. But, if I don’t go back there, what happened to you will happen to more innocent people.”
“You can’t be a hero Natalie! There’s no such thing!” Caitlin cried. “If you love me and love your family, don’t go back there. Please?”

Natalie was silent. She had set herself to help people and here Caitlin was to make her more confused. Natalie was cornered, lost and helpless.
