10:00am
Kenneth’ watch read when he opened his eyes. He stayed up for most of the night and switched on the TV to keep him company. At 5am, he felt sleepy and dozed on the couch. When he was up again, he got on his feet quickly. He was somewhat confused, he was at a girl’s house, his brother was in her room, with her. What if her parents or the neighbors showed up suddenly?
He started into the kitchen. “Trevor? Trevor?” he called into the empty room. Just then he also recalled something and ran outside.
He paused at the threshold, staring at the empty yard. My car! He ran back inside and climbed up the stairs. “Trevor? Trevor?”
He stopped at the first door and tried to open it but, it did not give in. He cursed and proceeded to the next door.
It was a guest’s bathroom. Well… since I’m already here…
He left about a minute later and tried more doors in the floor, none of them gave up to him. There was yet another floor and he went up calling Trevor’s name. “Boy? Trevor? I’m going to kill you for this.” He promised and tried the first door he met.
It opened to reveal Natalie’s bedroom. The bed itself was rough and some of the girl’s clothes were folded and laid on a night stand. A sound of running water came from a probably shower cubicle inside the room. Natalie’s voice came afterward. “Trevor? Is that you?”
“No. Where is he?” Kenneth replied with a little relief that someone else was still alive in the house.
“Oh. He went to fetch breakfast.”
So he took the car… “He took the car?”
“I think so.” Natalie replied.
Kenneth closed the door and walked back downstairs. Trevor must have not wanted to disturb him.
Luckily, when he got to the living room, his car came back with its familiar purr. Kenneth waited till Trevor got down holding a few bags. He locked the car door and greeted Kenneth at the entrance.
“How was your night?” Trevor asked, smilingly.
“You took my car. For a moment there, I thought that it was stolen.”
“No. Its alright. I only borrowed it and guess what, I went to Central Park.”
“What’s so special about that place? Cummon, give me the keys.”
Trevor handed the car keys to his brother and they walked into the house. “The special thing is that, I've been there and you haven’t.” Trevor said.
“Are we still discussing that topic?”
“Yeah. You have been to many places, but not to Central Park…”
“Ha ha ha. I’m sad.”
“You’re being sarcastic.”
“No.”
Trevor shook his head with disappointment and took the bags to the kitchen. Kenneth followed him, yawning. “So, what did you get us Trevor?”
“Bread.”
Isn't there anything edible in this city?”
“The city yes, here, I don’t know.”
Kenneth walked to the table where Trevor laid the bags and took one of them. He peeped in and smiled at his brother. “I was almost going to tell you that we’re going back to Vegas.”
“Then we’re going to be here for a few days.”
Kenneth took out Five Guys burger from the Ziploc bag and took a bite.
“Wait, you’re not going to have that without this.” Trevor said taking out a bottle of wine for him.
“Wow. Thank you.”
Natalie had come down for breakfast after hearing the Bugatti park outside the house. She joined them in the kitchen wearing a light brown knee length dress with white dots on it. She let her hair dangle free on her back and wore a light make up on her face.
“Tea, anyone?” she asked after seeing the wine.
“Maybe Trevor. I’m cool.”
Natalie shrugged and walked to a heating kettle on the cooker.
Kenneth rounded the table and whispered into Trevor’s ear. Soon, they left together to Kenneth’ car outside. When Natalie turned around, she was left alone. “Oh well.”

“So, tell me.” Trevor said to Kenneth after they were outside.
“I am going to be in the place that I booked for us. I need to refresh and stuff, thanks for the wine.”
“Wait, we can take out our bags and do that here.”
“No Trevor. You also have to respect this girl and her parents. We’re two strangers, they don’t know us… they are gone. It wouldn't be best for us to take advantage of their daughter or their absence. I’ll get a shower and change at the hotel. You will have to be with her and talk to her about Hamerton. Don’t forget why we came. Got that?”
“Okay.”
“Not just an okay, you have to promise me.”
“I promise.” Trevor said nodding. “What about the people who tried to attack her yesterday? Are you going to take care of that?”
“You told me that it’s the work of the police.”
Not any longer. Trevor was thinking. The issue got personal… “She knows those guys. One of them is her old boyfriend. His name is Simon.”
“We’ll file a case then.” Kenneth replied easily.
“When?”
“After we talk her to becoming President.”
Trevor was silent.
Kenneth pat his shoulder lightly. “It’s gonna be alright, I promise. I’ll see to it that nothing wrong happens to her or you. We need her.”
Trevor took in a deep breath and nodded.
“Okay. Goodbye.” Kenneth said.
“Alright.” Trevor replied and gave him way to open the car door and get in.
I can do this. Trevor thought. I have to do this…

For Hamerton
