Where it ended last time. Natalie agrees to play the hide and seek games in the house and Paula and Lucie have already set a trap for her. It's Ashleigh who falls down the stairs and is lying on a pool of blood.

Continue:

“Oh my God!” Natalie cried and hurried down the stairs with other girls following.
She knelt down close to Ashleigh’s body, crying. “Ashleigh, Ashleigh, please? Wake up?” She sobbed, shaking her.
“Natalie?” A girl called trying to pull her back.
“We have to call somebody.” Another girl advised and ran out.
Paula appeared, just joining the small crowd around Natalie and Ashleigh’s body. Her eyes had widened with shock. She swallowed glancing at the body then at Natalie’s wretched face.
Their gaze met and Paula frowned. “You!” she growled loudly.
Lucie made her way into the crowd and paused behind Paula, she stared at the body then at Natalie. “What happened here?” she exclaimed.
“You killed her!” Paula snapped. She had to get back at Natalie some way.
“What?” Natalie asked with disbelief.
“What happened Natalie?” Camille, the girl who held Natalie asked.
Natalie turned to her. “I didn't do anything. She fell down the stairs.”
“You pushed her!” Paula shouted.
Natalie’s mouth dropped open with the accusation. “What! How could I? Ashleigh is my friend.”
“The matron is here.” An announcement came and they started to clear a way.
The stern looking lady in a black night robe drew close to Ashleigh’s body and gasped. “Oh mein Gott!” she exclaimed in German and turned to Natalie who was close to her. “What happened here?”
“She fell down the stairs.” Natalie cried.
“What are you all doing here? Call an ambulance. Schnell, schnell!” She ordered.
The girls dispersed to find any help that they could get. The matron crouched close to the body to feel Ashleigh’s pulse.
She swallowed afterward. She only hoped that the doctors could do anything.

……………………………………………………………….
When the ambulance arrived to take Ashleigh away, none of the girls could accompany her to the hospital. Camille made them all agree not to tell what they were doing at the time of the accident. Natalie was still at shock, she could not believe what had happened. She did not want Ashleigh to die and she blamed herself for agreeing to play the game that night.
Paula spent the whole night awake, cursing the fact that her plan to hurt Natalie failed. She had no remorse nor sympathy that her actions were close to taking a person’s life. She also tried to resolve a way in which she could implicate Natalie in everything.
And she did.

The next day, the police arrived to interrogate all the girls on what happened.
The girls found out then that Ashleigh died and that made the situation worse for all of them.
The debate competitions were canceled and everyone was to leave except for the them. Ashleigh’s parents were on their way along with the US embassy delegate.
The girls had never been more frightened. Even Lucie was close to giving herself away until Paula threatened her.
“I know what to do. It was all Natalie’s fault and we’ll stick to that while talking to the police.”
Lucie nodded un-assuredly. Her conscious convicted her for being responsible for someone’s death.
When it was Paula’s turn to face the cops, she made all efforts to forge Natalie’s involvement.
“It was her idea!” she snapped at one blond American policeman. “To do the hide and seek. Me and my friend Lucie debated against it but, she insisted. I can swear that she already had it in mind to kill Ashleigh Smith.”
The officer took a moment considering the statement.
They sat across a desk in the matron’s office inside the duplex home. The other girls where outside, waiting for their turns for interrogation and chatting about what happened.
“Did you by chance see what happened?” The officer asked.
Paula took a few seconds to reply then said. “Yes. Yes. It was dark but I saw her. She pushed Ashleigh Smith down the stairs.”
The officer narrowed her eyes, scrutinizing Paula for a second and looked down on a file that he had on the desk.
Paula peeped at the file. She was also agitated that the police did not seem convinced by her statement.
“Miss Paula Mour, it says here in your personal file that you are short sighted and you use amh… pair of contact lens of minus 3.” The officer said and glanced up at her. “You are not wearing your contact lens and I reckon that you have not since yesterday from the swelling around your eyelids.”
She glanced away feeling embarrassed and angry.
“Listen amh, I am through with you for now. But, you will have to remain in the house and subsequently Berlin until the investigation is over.”
She frowned. “But, Natalie killed Ashleigh! She killed her. You are only defending her because she come from the same country as you!” she shouted. “I hate you! I hate her! I hate you all.”
A female officer burst into the room as a result of the shouts.
The girls gathered at the door, watching what was going on.
“Take her out officer Millies, please.” The male officer asked as the lady officer apprehended Paula.
“Let me go! Let me..” Paula shouted as she was being led out.
The man officer sighed and lifted his receiver to call in another girl.

what happened next? stay tuned to find out.
