Chapter Thirteen: The Elections

“Vote for me, vote for me! I will do for you everything!”
A speaker so sounded in class D.
Erin sat behind her desk with Ingrid and she turned to her as the voice repeated itself. “Morningstar.” She said.
“Yeah.” Ingrid agreed sighing.
“I thought that you sent her a text message.”
“I did. I don’t know what happened.”
The class door opened and they all turned to the entrance to behold Trevor walking in.
“What are you still doing here?” he greeted, walking to their desk.
“As you can see, nothing.” Ingrid replied.
“This is no joke Ingrid, Erin. Morningstar is winning all the referendum votes.”
“I sent Natalie a text last week. She did not reply but, why don’t you reach her? You are her boyfriend.” Ingrid said.
Erin was silent.
“After the events in Berlin, I figured that she might be going through a tough time. Do you think that she has given up fighting with us?”
“No.” Ingrid denied. “I have confidence in Natalie, she will come. You Trevor should know better than to mistrust her.”
“What happened in Berlin, her friend’s murder and imagine that, the trap was meant for her. Besides that, all the press attention. She has no experience.” He added.
“None of us do.” Erin interjected. They all turned to her and she went on. “We need to find a replacement.”
“Erin. No!” Ingrid snapped and turned to Trevor for support that he did not give. She frowned, rising. “We can’t do this.”
“Vote for me vote for me. I will do for you everything.” The class speakers shimmered.
Trevor looked down to say sadly that Erin was right.
Ingrid shook her head with disbelief.
Just then the room door opened and they all turned to the entrance.
“Madam Sue.” Trevor reckoned as the chief director of the school walked in. “Are you looking for me?”
“Good morning ma’am.” The girls greeted.
“Good morning.” The lady replied and turned to Trevor.
“Good morning madam.” He greeted.
“Good morning. If I was looking for you I would have sent for you. What are you all doing here? Michael Morningstar is winning.” The lady said.
Trevor furrowed his eyebrows looking surprised along with the others. “Madam?”
“Yes Trevor?” she replied.
“Amh.” He swallowed. “You care madam?”
“But, of course. Just like you I think that, Natalie Bradley should be the one out there, not that Michael Morningstar.”
“Wow.” Trevor could not help but, express his surprise.
Ingrid took a stand in front of him. “Ma’am. We don’t know what happened with Natalie. We think that maybe after her friend’s murder in Berlin, she was discouraged to return to school.”
“Yes, I heard.” Madam Sue said somberly. “Okay, I will take care of that. What do you know about Morningstar?”
“Well, he was my Culture prefect.” Trevor begun. “He is intelligent, very proud and haughty too. What makes him win people’s favor is that he has no opponent. No one dares to run against him. And everyone fears his reign.”
“Tobias is also running for president.” Erin said.
“But, Tobias is no match for Morningstar.” Trevor argued.
“No one except Natalie.” Madam Sue said under breath.
“That’s right ma’am.” Ingrid agreed.
The lady’s eyes flashed with a new idea. “Trevor, follow me.”
