Chapter Seven: HAMERTON FESTIVALS

The girls joined other pupils in their classroom. It was large enough to accommodate at least 60 students including the leaders who summoned them. There were gatherings elsewhere; in the park, in the theater to organize the students to perform in the Hamerton festivals. The events took place in the third Saturday of February every year.
The leader of the organization in class D was Trevor. Odd, Erin thought.
The naughty class kept murmuring during the meeting. Mostly because of their organizer.
Natalie stood beside Ingrid and Erin close to their class entrance bluntly listening to the ‘hot’ speaker.
“So, we’ve agreed to play something, an old story. Which one will it be?” Trevor asked.
“The frog prince!” Ingrid called out.
Trevor turned to her and giggled.
Ingrid shrugged and walked forward to the front of the class. She paused a few feet from him, staring at the mass. “Guys? Quiet please.” She requested when the noise grew. They hushed and she went on. “You know, our class is well renowned for its potentials. Class D of all the standard 11 students in Hamerton, is first intelligent, talented, well of course… noisy… but we are all alright.”
“I don’t get your point.” One boy student from the back spoke out. “We are all that but, how does your statement relate to the noise here or us doing The Frog Prince?”
“I was getting there Steven.” Ingrid replied.
Steven, tall with shoulder length brown hair  and with seemingly serious personality, abandoned his post from the back to the front of the class. Natalie recalled him. He was the one who gave up his seat for her the previous day.
“Let’s do this,” he suggested to Trevor and Ingrid and faced the class. “All actors, register your names to me and if you think that you can perform anything in the coming festivals, please see me. I’ll be there.” He pointed at the back and turned to Trevor and Ingrid “We’ll discuss with the actors what play we could perform in the festivals. I bet on 20 volunteers already.”
“Amh, Steve? We have to combine your group with other senior classes.” Trevor informed. “Archibald wants us to do something together for once. Especially with this class.”
Steve raised his eyebrows with slight amazement and nodded. “Okay.”
“We’re going to do a collaboration with you guys?” Erin asked from the entrance.
Trevor turned around to her. “Yeah.”
Most students grunted.
“What?” Trevor asked. “It’s going to be fine.” He turned to Ingrid seeking for support  but, Ingrid only shied away humming.
Trevor sighed. “Guys please? We can’t let Archibald down… let’s put our differences aside and do something for the festivals.” He begged.
There was silence.
Trevor sighed again, highly disappointed. He walked out silently passing Natalie at the doorway.

She sniffed his perfume.

what is it that is preventing class D from performing with other senior classes? stay tuned to find out...
