HAMERTON 2 Chapter 4 episode 5
HAMERTON 2
Thank you God for this opportunity.
Hamerton. A large school offering the finest Education to the students of the state and overseas. Natalie joins this school arriving from Brooklyn and she has grief over her lost friends who were murdered in Hamerton. She teams up with Ingrid and their fellow seniors against the House of Representatives to prevent a bomb blast that could cause a large massacre.
Hallow viewers!
previously on Hamerton; Nicole appears in Geneva, Switzerland with Gale Baeyer who loves her and wants to marry her. She is forced to disagree because of her commitment to Trevor.
“Hallo?”
“Hello Henry?”
“Howls. What a relief to hear from you. How are
things with your wife? Any news?”
“Yes. The SOHOT got hold of me a while ago and told
me that, I have to deliver Trevor to them or else they are going to kill her.
Somehow, the SOHOT people found out that the real Trevor is still in London.”
Henry was amazed. “How?”
“I don’t know. But, now they want him.”
Henry sighed. “Oh my God. This is bad.”
“Yes. I have already asked Nicole back in the field.
All I need is you to try to reach Maggie. I believe that you can access her
through the receiver in her ear.”
“Yes.” Henry said nodding. He rose from where he was
sitting and walked to a computer desk at one end of the room. “Yesterday, I heard
voices on the radio but, I was in front of Mr. Tommy, I could not follow up.”
“It must have been Maggie. Me and Trevor have
switched off our receivers.”
“Oh.” Henry said, feeling sad that, he did not take
notice of that. He tapped on the screen touch computer. “Her receiver is dead
for now. She must be asleep or something.”
Corny sounded sighing. “I just hope that, she is
still okay.”
“Could there be a way to wake her so that, we can
make the receiver go live again?”
“No. There is no way to reach her unless she makes a
sound.”
Henry was silent.
“Henry. When you heard her yesterday, what did she
say? Did she sound afraid?”
“She was breathing. I don’t remember hearing any
words.”
“Wait. Trevor’s room has got cameras right?”
“Right.” Henry replied, nodding.
“Whatever she said that, you can’t remember, must
have been recorded by the secret cameras.”
Henry smiled with hope. “Right. I got in my
room, I mean, Trevor’s room when the radio was already on. Probably, she said more
before I arrived.”
“Yes.” Corny agreed, sounding more hopeful. “Please,
go to the security room and take the security tapes belonging your room. You
also understand that, if Bill or Mr. Tommy take notice of them, they will
realize that, Trevor is not with them.”
“Yes.” Henry said, rising.
“Who is holding the office in my absence?”
“Bill.”
“Okay. Just, find a way to get those tapes.”
“Okay.” Henry replied, nodding.
There was a short pause before Corny came again.
“Henry?”
“Yes Howls?”
“Please you will let me hear what she said.”
“Yes Howls.” Henry accepted pitifully.
He left the room and rushed to the top floor of the
mansion.
There was a hallway and a door at the end of it that
opened up to a short corridor.
He walked into the corridor to a door labeled.
Security
“Bill?” Henry called.
“Who is it?”
“Me.” He replied, imitating Trevor’s voice.
He waited a few seconds and the door was opened.
The tall and heavily built security head of the house, appeared,
wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
“Yes boss. How can I help you?” he asked.
“Amh… Mr. To… I mean, my father is calling you.”
“Oh. Okay. In the study right?” Bill asked, fully
aware of everyone’s movement in the house.”
“Yes.” Henry replied quickly. “But, before you go.
Tell me, since you have been picking on me in my room, do you know where I
placed my blue bag? I misplaced it, I forgot where I put it.”
“No boss. On the contrary, I have been focusing on
helping Corny find his wife. I hardly check on you. But, I can go through the
tapes and find out for you.” he said, retreating into the room.
“No, no, no.” Henry snapped. “I want to do that, on
my own. It’s good that, you also don’t check on me. I like to dance naked.”
Bill grimaced at him, giving his back to a bunch of
screens behind them. “Really, sir?”
“Yes, yes. So, please, go see my father. And, I will
just find my blue bag with my music tapes.” Henry replied quickly.
Bill blinked, shrugged and left.
Henry sighed with relief after Bill had gone.
Trevor
will kill me for telling Bill that. He thought, hastily
occupying a swing chair in front of the screens.
He darted his gaze on them, looking for one that,
must have showed his empty room. When he found it, he stretched his hand to a
compartment below the screen where a VHS played. He pressed a button and the
compartment opened. He took the tape and read a label on its side. “T. Of
course.”
He turned to a drawer below the computer screens and
shuffled through a pile of tapes for those labeled T and those without any
labels.
He wanted to flush the security tapes into an empty
video tape.
When he finally got hold of one, he hurried to shift
the files to the empty tape and by chance, got a glimpse of Mr. Tommy’s study
room.
“No. I haven’t asked for you.” Mr. Tommy sounded.
“Oh. Really sir? Then, I guess Trevor must want to
check his naked videos in private.” Bill said.
Henry sighed, pressing a button to delete the files
in the original tape.
“Naked videos, Bill? Is that the reason why he shuns me from his room?” Mr. Tommy asked
Henry sighed again at this. “Trevor will really kill me.”
“He’s
slightly changed since he came back.” Bill commented.
“Do
you think that, he’s missing that girl, Natalie?” Mr. Tommy asked.
“He
has not showed that, but, it could be possible.”
“C’mon
c’mon.” Henry vainly urged the computer in front of him.
He glanced at the screen showing Mr. Tommy and Bill.
“Did you make follow up on her as I asked?” Mr. Tommy was asking.
“Yes. She has no link to your enemies. She is the
daughter of one engineer Nathan Bradley.” Bill informed him.
“Ah. I've heard that name before.”
“Maybe because he is the chief engineer of Mr.
Brooks' mining project in one country in Africa.”
Though Henry’s work was already done, he paused
behind the screens, following closely what Bill and Mr. Tommy disclosed.
“Ah. Robert Brooks. He used to work for our company.
It seems that, he struck such a big deal in the mines. Do you remember that, we
saw him last year I think, with his children?” Mr. Tommy asked.
“Yes and he seemed very wealthy.”
“His house is a castle. It’s bigger than this. It is
close as big as Trevor’s favorite home in London.”
“Do you think of contacting him sir and probably engage
in his business?” Bill asked.
“No. But, I will visit him some day. You see, I think
that, his daughter could be good for my son. We come from the same social class
and well, his daughter and my son were already acquainted once.”
Henry frowned at this. “Trevor loves Natalie.”
“Not once sir. Caitlin Brooks also went to Hamerton. She was shifted after a blast that, almost killed her.”
“That school is no good for my son. Not for him nor
for anyone.”
“I agree with you Mr. Tommy. Okay. You will tell me
when you would like to see Mr. Brooks and I will make the necessary
arrangements.”
“Okay. Before you go, tell me what happened with
Maggreth Howls.”
“Corny is making the efforts to rescue her.”
“Please, supply him with whatever he needs. If it
also necessary, I’ll travel to England to show him my support.”
“That, could be dangerous for you sir.” Bill warned.
“No, no. Corny is like my second born. Whatever happens
to him affects me too.”
“I understand sir.” Bill replied nodding.
“Please update me of his progress.” Mr. Tommy asked.
“Surely sir.”
At this, Henry replaced the tape in its compartment
and pocketed the new tape.
At the screen, he noticed Bill leave Mr. Tommy’s
study room. He pushed back his chair and started out of the room.
He scurried to the end of the corridor and opened
the door that got him back into the hallway. There was an elevator at the
opposite end of the floor that, could have quickly got him to his bedroom. But,
he knew that he could cross paths with Bill so, he took the stairs instead.
After crossing a few floors, he came to his bedroom
floor. He got in and shut himself inside.

20 facts about Hamerton
CREATIVE WRITING multtalentedp.blogspot.com is running a special edition to give 20 facts about the trending story; Hamerton, toward the conclusion of it.
Our viewers and visitors from Facebook get the chance of giving the facts that we broadcast here occasionally and well... become part of the amazing story!
SOHOT SOHOR HOR ....
Mmh....
Hallow viewers.
The original name of the sect hunting Hamerton was 'The Parliament'.
'The Parliament' was what Ingrid, Trevor, Erin and Natalie mentioned, referring to the evil sect trying to bring down their school.
On writing the story a few years later, 2015 I thought of coming up with perhaps, a cooler name.
So, I took an excerpt from my very first novel, and decided to call the sect; SOHOT.
SOHOT in this story, Hamerton stands for; Secret Organization of the House of Representatives
also Senior Organization of the House of Representatives.
The 'T' instead of 'R' is meant to make the organization more secretive!
A fact close to that, is the original idea of The House of Representatives.
I owe this to my Civics teacher in O-level.
I was inspired by the Parliament structure, design and The House of Representatives as our teacher taught us and I thought of writing a fictitious story about it.
I assumed the Monitors as members of Parliament, the Ministers being chose from among them and added the touch of a female President.
So, there you have it, the third fact of the 20 facts about Hamerton

Thank you God for this opportunity.

Previously on Hamerton; Nicky agreed with Steven's plan to play being shot and killed by Ingrid so that, Natalie would see it and their secrets be concealed.
continue;
The air inside a hotel room grew tense as a couple
got closer to each other, exchanging passion and desire for each other.
The guy maneuvered the girl onto the bed and she
held her tie, struggling to pull it off him. Halfway, the guy jerk her hand and
with vigor, attacked her lips to throw throbbing kisses to her.
“I am going to marry you, Adeline.” He promised her,
with his face lurking close to her neck.
She did not reply, shutting her eyes to feel her
deft fingers spread across her body.
Just then, her cellphone rang on a night stand
beside the table.
The girl cursed. “Who could think of calling me at
this time?”
He kissed her. “Let it go, you’ll check her or him,
later.”
She consented his idea at first but, then, the phone
rang again.
“Switch it off.” He suggested.
“Let me see who it is first.” She said.
He sighed and moved aside.
She set in place her lop-sided blouse laces and got off
the bed to where her phone was.
Her eyebrows furrowed at the number on the screen.
The caller was in England.
She slid the green button on the screen and received
it. “Hallo?”
“Nicole.” A man’s voice came.
The girl’s expression changed to seriousness. She
drew to a corner of the room. “Howls?”
“Yes it’s me.” The man replied.
She took in a deep breath and asked. “What do you
want from me?”
“My wife was kidnapped.” He informed.
“You got married.” She reckoned instead.
“Yes. Just a few months after you disappeared.”
“With Millies?”
“No, no. With another person. But, hey, that is not
important what is, is that, she was kidnapped by SOHOT and so far, you are the
only one who can find her.”
She took a few seconds, digesting his words. “When
did this happen?” She asked first.
“About a day ago. Listen, they want Trevor in
exchange for her. They have given us a day to deliver Trevor to them or else
they are going to kill Maggie.”
“That’s her name?” she asked. “Maggie?”
“Yes. She is a bit chubby, she has brown hair and a
very cute face.”
“Okay. I get that. Amh, so, you are saying that,
they want Trevor in exchange for her life?”
“Exactly.”
“Oh. I’m sorry Howls that, you already have to go
through this.”
There was a deep sigh. “Thank you Nicky. Honestly, I
really need your help.”
“I promise to do whatever I can. Listen, where did
the kidnapping take place?”
“At the University where Trevor was admitted to, by
her father. The men used to observe Maggie from an adjacent room. They took her
from her hostel room.”
“Okay. Did the bad guys mention where you are
supposed to deliver Trevor?”
“They won’t say until tomorrow night.”
“Does Mr. Tommy know?”
“No. Trevor insisted on staying in London to help me
find Maggie. Henry replaced him in LA with his father.”
Nicky sighed. “Oh Howls. This is such a big mess.”
“You can’t imagine how I’m taking it.”
“We’ll find your wife, alright?”
“I hope so, Nicky. Do you know where they could be
hiding her? In London?”
“There’s a building but, you won’t be able to get
in. Only I can.”
“But, they know that you are dead.”
“I will try to get in and leave with Maggie without
anyone seeing me.”
“Thank you, Nicky. But, you’ll tell us where you are
going so that we can keep you safe.”
“Alright.”
“How fast can you get here?”
She checked her watch. “Maybe by 5pm. I’ll go to the
airport right away.”
“Let me arrange your flight then. Are you still
using the name, Adeline?”
“Yeah.” She replied, sadly.
“Okay. We’ll be waiting for you.”
“Okay. Thank you.”
“No. Thank you.”
Nicky smiled a little, lowering the phone. She felt
good to connect with her old life.
Concluding his training earlier than them, Corny Howls
became the couch to Nicky and Ingrid. In those brief years, Nicky and Howls
also shared a romance but, it lasted for a short time because, she was assigned
to love Trevor Tommy. An assignment that, she fell for.
After a year or two, she was shifted to Hamerton and
there, Trevor treated her like a shadow of a past that, he resented so much.
Nicky learned later that, Trevor grew attached to
her fellow trainee, Ingrid. Nicky figured their tasks as emotional
manipulation. She did not know whether Ingrid liked him back or she was just
following Mr. Tommy’s or Bill’s instructions.
But, after her figurative death, Nicky sought to
move on. She was not needed in the ‘field’ and she had cash to start a new
life.
She thought of completing High school but, her idea
was crashed by all the requirements she needed to study in a new country.
So, she looked for work and found one at a bar. When
she got harassments she found another work in a hotel. Luckily for her, she was
hired in a very classic hotel in Geneva.
She served as a Chef’s aid. He was a kind old man
who pitied her because of what she told her about her life story.
The man with her in the room was six years older
than she was. They first met outside a shopping mall, when he knocked her with
his car.
Nicky got a spasm on her shoulder that made her stop
in front of the road.
He took her into his ride and rushed her to a
hospital where he also took care of her. They got acquainted with a lot of
difficult on her part.
Later, he offered her a job in his hotel. There, she
served as the chef’s assistance.
She turned around and met with a diamond heart ring
with a silver band.
Gale held it in his fingers with a smile on his
face. “Adeline. I am serious about us. Will you please, marry me?”
Nicole’s eyes filled with tears. She had never felt
that joyous in her life.
Gale Baeyer was the only real and clean thing that
ever happened to her.
He took her left hand as she remained speechless,
apparently too exhilarated by his request.
He got on his knees as she watched at him with glee
on her face.
“Adeline X X.” He said and they both laughed. “Will
you please, marry me?”
She released a tear, feeling so overwhelmed with
happiness. She was more than willing to agree and say yes but, though the word
was close to her lips, she could not repeat it to the man that she came to
love.
“Oh Gale.” She sighed. She sounded to clearly hold
something back. Or at least, something held her back. Her past.
She did not think that, Gale would marry her; a young
woman sentenced to protect some wealthy kid for the rest of her life.
Gale furrowed his eyebrows. “What’s wrong? Don’t you
love me?”
“No.” she denied quickly. “I love you. With all my
heart. It’s just that.” She said, beginning to excuse herself. She ended up
sighing. “I can’t explain.”
He rose, still holding her hands. “Adeline. You can
trust me with anything. I know that, we don’t know each other much but,
whatever you have done in your life before me, doesn't matter. I love you now
and to me, the present and future is all that, counts.”
His words touched her heart but, the more they did,
the more she felt to stay away from him.
“Adeline.” He called.
She looked down. “I have to leave.”
“Adeline?” he called with devastation in his voice.
She glanced at him. Pain etched in her eyes. “Now.”
“What is it, Adeline? Tell me?” he begged.
She sighed deeply, releasing tears. “Gale. I love
you. So much. You are the first person in my life who make me feel complete. I
never thought that, I could be happy until I met you.” she said and paused. He
smiled at the words that came out of her mouth but, her relenting, made him
worry. “But, I don’t think that, I could ever be happy.”
He furrowed her eyebrows. “Why?”
“Because, I have other responsibilities and they
wear me down. I don’t want to involve you in my issues. You will think
differently of me and I wouldn't want that.”
“But, Adeline, whatever, whatever you are going
through, you can tell me. I will protect you. I want to be a part of your life.
I love you.”
She squeezed her eyes shut, releasing a lot of
tears. “I’m scared.” She said and unto his surprise, threw her hands around
him, embracing him, strongly.
He hugged her back. “I will help you, Adeline. I
promise you that, I love you more than anything.”
She just hoped that, she could rely on his promise.

Hallow viewers!
previously on Hamerton; Natalie resigned from being President and resolved to leave Hamerton for good.
“A good mathematician must be able to solve any
mathematical equation through any and all of the mathematical ways possible.”
Mr. Gram said inside the senior class, class D, in response to Fred’s challenge
question.
“Oh.” Fred said, standing at one end of the board
and opposite Mr. Gram. He was attempting to solve a calculus equation and ended
halfway. “I was used to this method.”
Mr. Gram shook her head with disappointment. “Mr.
Fred Fergusson, I just taught you-” he begun reprimanding Fred, before the classroom door was
opened.
The whole class turned to the entrance.
A guy from the S class, held the door knob, looking
around the room. “Excuse me Mr. Gram, the principal’s secretary is in need of
Natalie Bradley.”
Mr. Gram frowned. “Can’t she see Natalie at
another time?” he asked.
“I don’t know.” The boy replied bluntly.
Before Mr. Gram snapped at him, Natalie rose from
her desk. “May I go and see her sir?”
Mr. Gram sighed. “Okay.”
Natalie thanked him and followed the boy out.
Seated beside Natalie’s empty desk, Ingrid’s mind
begun to fill with worry. She wondered what Archibald needed with Natalie.
Mr. Gram’s voice drew the rest of the class’
attention. “Anyone else here, who can solve this equation with my method?”
“Natalie Bradley.” Someone called out from the back
of the class.
Mr. Gram was furious. “Can’t you do anything on your
own? What will happen if Natalie shifts or something?”
Fred raised her eyebrows. “They are shifting her?”
With Fred’s question, the class begun to murmur.
“What are you all whispering about? I just said
that, you have to stand on your own feet. Someday, Natalie will not be around
to solve your questions.” Mr. Gram said.
There was were no replies.
Just then, the electric bell rang outside the room, signifying the end of class.
Fred relinquished the chalk on the teacher’s desk. “Times
up.”
The rest of the class begun packing their books and
moving their seats.
“You have to study a lot for your A-level exams.” Mr.
Gram instructed, picking up his Clear bag from his desk. “But, I hope that,
before the exams, you will already have your teacher back.”
Fred had taken his camera from his bag and he turned
to Mr. Gram with it, capturing him. “Can you tell HTV about, Natalie shifting
classes?”
Mr. stretched his hands in front of his face, to
evade the camera. “Mr. Fergusson. I will discipline you for this.” He warned.
“But, we are on recess, sir.”
Mr. Gram withdrew his hands, snapping at him. “I am
the discipline teacher, I could have you, suspended for shooting me against my
will.” He bawled.
Some of the kids who were still in class started
laughing.
“Aarrg.” Mr. Gram growled and stormed out.
Natalie and the boy parted when he retired to his
own class. She walked to the principal’s office and met the secretary behind
her desk.
“Oh Natalie.” The lady said first and shuffled
through some files for a printed paper.
“Good evening Miss Ester.” Natalie greeted, watching
the secretary’s movements.
“You are lucky that he signed it.” Ms. Ester said,
waving the paper to her. She drew it back before Natalie took it. “Wait, I haven’t
put in here the reason yet.” She said, fetching a pen from her coat pocket. “Archibald is very strict these days about pupils leaving the school compound. Especially those
who, in their records, have no residency or relationship in England.”
“Oh.” Natalie said, with a little worry building up
in her.
“So, why are you leaving Hamerton?” Ms. Ester asked,
getting ready to note down.
“For medical reasons.” Natalie replied.
“Alright. A check-up maybe?”
“Yeah…” Natalie agreed and darted her gaze inside
the room, looking for an excuse. “Eye checkup!” she added excitedly.
“Alright.” Ms. Ester agreed and noted. She then
turned back to Natalie. “But, I advise you not to use glasses. Ask them for
contact lenses, glasses will not look good on you.”
Natalie nodded with her eyebrows raised.
Ester turned back to the gate-pass. “So, to which
clinic will you go to?”
“Amh… I’ve heard of this hospital in London.”
At the city’s name, Ester turned to Natalie with
shock on her face. “Natalie? You are going to London? Why?”
Natalie blinked quickly in self-defense. “Eye
check-up.”
“Yes but, why London? You will get lost in the city
you pretty girl.”
“Amh… I survived New York, I think that I can take
this.”
Ester arched an eyebrow. “Mmh. So, you are going
sightseeing?”
Natalie laughed at the way Ester put it. “No. For an
eye checkup. But, I can’t deny that, I've always longed to be in London. For a
longer time than, dropping at Heathrow. You understand, right?”
Ms. Ester nodded. “Yeah. So, how long will you take…‘sightseeing’?”
“Two days.”
“Mh. Where will you sleep?”
“I have my Aunt who is also waiting for me.”
Ms. Ester noted that, down. “Okay.” She said and gave
the gate-pass to Natalie.
“Already signed?” Natalie asked, receiving it.
“Yes. There was only the stamp that I had to give
after writing your details.” Ester said, assuring her. “Stay safe dear. London
is a very big city. Don’t get lost on your way there, okay?”
Natalie nodded, folding the pass. “Right. Thank you.”
Ms. Ester smiled at her. “Welcome. And do consider
being our President again.”
Natalie did not reply. She could not lie to Ester
but, neither could she tell her the truth. She offered Ester a broad grin and
turned around, leaving.

HAMERTON Chapter 4 Special episode
Previously on Hamerton; “There are many but, I’d rather give you a name of one that is presumed dead.” He said and Trevor furrowed his eyebrows. Corny gloated, feeling pleased to disclose Nicky’s name. Trevor’s mouth dropped with shock. What??.
Many years back
Mr. Tommy walked into
the girls’ room unnoticed.
The girls were busy
doing their homework, seated behind a desk at the end of the room, opposite a
pink canopy bed.
An older boy helped
them, guiding the eldest of the two girls, to draw a circle with a protractor.
Mr. Tommy watched them and smiled. The three got
along together like true siblings. He wished that, his own children would
engage like them.
At the thought of that, Trevor sounded calling in the
lobby. “Mommy, mommy, Kenneth doesn't want to give back my tie.”
Just then, the boy in the room turned to the door.
“Mr. Tommy.” He reckoned, rising.
Mr. Tommy raised his hand. “It’s okay, Corny. Sit
down.”
“Good evening sir?” the girl beside Corny Howls
greeted.
“Good evening Nicole.”
“Good evening Mr. Tommy?” The last girl at the desk
greeted.
“Good evening, Ingrid.” Mr. Tommy replied and walked
into the room, pushing the door closed behind himself.
“Welcome, sir. How can we help you?” Corny said,
trying to be of service.
“Thank you, Corny. It is nice of you that you are
already helping your sisters with their work.” He said and paused to change the
subject. “But, I will need your help with one thing.”
“Sure sir.” Nicole agreed on behalf of all.
Corny rose and gave up his seat to Mr. Tommy, then
fetched his own stool from one end of the bedroom.
“Yes sir?” he asked after sitting.
Mr. Tommy took a moment. He seemed uneasy. It was as
if there was a heavy burden he was carrying in his shoulders.
“The training that you guys are taking, do you know
what it's for?” Mr. Tommy asked, opening a conversation.
“Self-defense?” Ingrid suggested, wondering if that
was the right explanation.
“Security.” Nicole said.
“Protecting you, sir?” Corny asked.
Mr. Tommy smiled at him. “You’re almost right Corny.
And I like you for your sharp mind.” He turned to the rest. “The training
you’re having is for protecting somebody. But, not me, Corny,” he said glancing
at Corny Howls. “My youngest son, Trevor.”
The girls looked at each other. Corny was silent,
thinking.
“I want you three, as lifelong guards and protectors
of Trevor.” Mr. Tommy added. “As the training goes on, you will receive
instructions which you have to follow. You will realize then that, each of you
will take different paths but, always around my son. I want you to make sure
that, my son is safe in my presence or absence just as I had protected you when
your parents were killed.”
Nicole sighed deeply and nodded.
Corny nodded as well.
Ingrid asked. “I don’t understand sir. Please don’t
mind me asking but, why Trevor?”
Mr. Tommy looked at her. “Him because of his brother
and more importantly because of his descent.” He paused to check their
expressions and they were all seemingly lost. He went on. “I was not always
rich until, I met a woman who had a streak for politics. Trevor’s mother. Her
family was always against our marriage, especially because, I already had
Kenneth with my first wife, Eloise.
“When me and Monica married, we moved in to this
house.” He said, looking around the room. “Of course back then, it was not as
big.” He added when, he noticed that they were exaggerating. “Monica motivated
me to start the Tommy enterprises. I supported her in her campaigns and she
supported me in my businesses. As we grew richer, we also grew enemies.
“However, real trouble begun when Trevor was born.
As it is to the knowledge of few, my son Trevor is the sole heir of an
authority that is currently led by my wife, Monica. The authority entitles him
to a very large amount of wealth.” He paused and the girls’
eyes widened with shock. Corny was cool.
“Now, Monica’s family is battling to
harm Trevor. They threatened before and they will be a threat for the rest of
my son’s life. I think that, my son’s life is more important than the whole
world put together.” Mr. Tommy said and Corny nodded. “So, it is your job from now on,
to keep my son safe. I know that, they will hunt him everywhere, in school, at
home, wherever. But, for as long as you are alive, I want you to protect him.”
The girls took in deep breaths and nodded.
“Mr. Tommy, thank you first for trusting us.” Corny
said on behalf of all. “I swear to make sure that, nothing bad happens to
Trevor. Not only because, you asked and you have been so good to us, but, also
because, Trevor has taken a big part in my heart.” he said earnestly and
chuckled, adding. “He’s like a spoiled little brother.”
Mr. Tommy agreed. “You are right. My son is
a bit spoiled.” He sighed. “I just wish that, one day, he will take after you and
not be like his rude brother.”
“I love Trevor too.” Nicole confessed. “Like a
brother, I mean.”
Ingrid grinned at her. She turned to Mr. Tommy. “Well,
sir. Like Howls, I will do whatever it takes to keep Trevor safe.”
“Thank you, Ingrid.”
“Me too, sir.” Nicole said.
“Thank you, Nicole.” Mr. Tommy said and turning to
the rest, rose saying. “You will receive instructions on what you must do. Since, we
don’t want anyone to know your part in my son’s life, you will find yourselves
taking paths you never expected. But, don’t worry. In time, you will find out
that there are more of you. And they will join you in your tasks. For my son’s
sake, I have agreed to do anything.”
They girls nodded and replied altogether. “Yes sir.”
“Yes sir.” Corny Howls agreed afterward.
Mr. Tommy thanked them again and left.
Outside he met with his twelve year old son, Trevor.
“Dad, my tie. I told my mom but, she wouldn't do anything.”
“Trevor, why do you always refer to ‘your mom’?
Monica is a parent to both you and your brother.” Mr. Tommy reproved him.
“Well. She is my mom.” Trevor retorted
and peeped at the loosely closed door behind his father. “Is Nicky there? I want
to see her.”
Mr. Tommy paused for a few seconds. Suddenly, he
smiled to himself and nodded. “Yes, she is, son. But, first, let us get you a
new tie.”
“But, I like that one that my mom bought for me.”
“Indeed but, whatever that, your brother has got it from you and he won’t return to you. You can’t go to the family celebration of the
workers of TE without dressing properly.”
Trevor wagged his head and nodded.
That same night, Monica, Trevor’s mother, got an accident
that, took her sanity. Consequently, Mr. Tommy made the truth of her condition
and whereabouts, anonymous to the public, for the rest of their lives.
Steven walked into the Parliament office, a small
cozy room with some chairs and desks, facing a high seat.
He found Nicky passing through a checklist of incomers
to the office.
“Found anything?” he asked.
“No.” she replied, turning to him with dismay on her
face.
“I just came from Archibald’s office. He warned me
that, there would be something.”
“He must have referred to Morningstar and Erin’s murder.”
Nicky said and folded her face, getting upset. “If only I could find out who
came to this office between yesterday night and today morning. Maybe, we could
find the real killer.”
“Do you think that, he or she would have been dumb enough
to sign that, he was taking a weapon from this room?”
“Everyone knows that, you can’t get through without
signing at the door.”
“Is the office keeper in? Maybe he took it.”
Nicky sighed. “The office keeper was Morningstar.”
Steven was silent, realizing the context of Nicky’s
answer.
“I had you wound Morningstar. Maybe, maybe I shouldn't have.”
“You didn't know that it would come to this.”
“Now, everybody will think that, Trevor did it. He is
the only one who, after the dissolution of the Parliament, still has access to
this office. He is not around and they will think that, he killed them.”
“Tell me, whose idea was it, to keep a gun in this
office?”
“Do you remember how Michael Reece died?” she
replied with a question.
“In the blast that took Caitlin’s life?” Steven
replied with uncertainty.
“No. The blast was used to cover up for his murder.
In fact, the blast was not even intended to kill Caitlin. Michael was attacked
in this very office and he could not defend himself.”
“God.” Steven whispered. “Who killed him and why?”
“We don’t know that. I joined the sect to find out or
at least, to know if the person could also be a threat to Trevor.”
“How was Michael Reece related to Trevor before he
died… I mean… killed?”
“He was his friend.”
Steven was silent.
“I've spent the whole two years searching and
nothing. If this thing has risen up again, I don’t know then what will happen.”
Nicky said, worriedly.
“Well. It is a good thing that, Trevor is recuperating
in the referral Hospital in London.”
Nicky furrowed her eyebrows. “Didn't you say that,
you took him to your uncle’s low standard clinic?”
“I immediately got on the phone with Howls. He
coordinated Trevor’s transfer to the hospital in London. Trevor spent hardly an
hour in my uncle’s clinic.”
Nicky nodded. “I trust that this is under wraps.”
she reckoned.
“Yes. Though, we haven’t brought it up yet, it will
be known to many that, I had Trevor admitted to my uncle’s clinic.”
Nicky nodded and sighed deeply.
Steven slipped his hand in his pocket and took out a
gun.
Nicky crossed her face in shock. She swallowed. “You
killed, Michael and Erin?”
Steven chuckled. “No. How can you think that?” He said
drawing out her fears. “This hasn't killed anyone yet but, it is supposed to
kill you.”
She furrowed her eyebrows. “What?”
“Yes. Once Trevor is cleared of charges, they are
going to come after you. I want Ingrid to use this on you in front of Natalie
but, only in self-defense.”
She still seemed distressed. “I don’t understand. You
are going to make Ingrid kill me?”
“No. All we want is for Natalie to see it and to
cover the murder of Michael and Erin so that, no one will come after you.”
She took a moment, digesting his words. “Wait. That,
thing…” she pointed at the gun. “Is it real?”
“Very real.”
She sighed deeply. “She will kill me.”
“No. She is a professional. Just as you are and the
rest of us. I promise that, we will be in the rooms, waiting at the right
moment to save your life.”
She frowned. “What? Steven, I don’t want to go
through with this.” She said, waving her hands in the air and absent mindedly,
walked to a desk at one point of the room.
“Nicky. You have to if you are ever going to stay
alive.”
She shook her head, sighing. “Oh Steven. I am
afraid. What if I really die? What if you guys are late to come and I lose my
life? I want to live.”
Steven walked to her and took her hands. “Nicky. Please?
Trusting me is your only option right now. Me and the rest of the crew.”
She looked at him for strength but, could not find
any. “I can’t Steven. I can’t.”
“Nicky. I promise you. If anything, anything at all
happens to you, I swear to you that, I will take my own life. We will rescue
you. I swear to you.”
She was silent, wondering if she could trust him. “This
is insane.” She said and asked. “Why is it so important for Natalie to see
Ingrid…” she sighed again at the very thought. “shooting me?”
“We need a witness.”
She grimaced at him and withdrew her hands from his
clutch, walking out on him. “You’re crazy.”
“Nicky. Natalie is the only person who could not
tell on Ingrid.”
“What if I just disappear? There will be no need of
Ingrid acting to kill me.”
“If you disappear, everyone will know that you are
responsible for the deaths in Hamerton.”
She paused for a few seconds. “But, Ingrid. If she…
kills me, they will believe that she killed Michael and Erin.”
“Not if the witness doesn't tell.”
Nicky was silent. She had no choice but, to agree with
his reasoning.
“If you are, ‘dead’, whoever killed you will be the
real murderer to the public. That culprit won’t be you or Ingrid.”
“If Natalie tells?”
“If that happens, she will have no evidence.”
She glanced at the gun in his hand. “And that?”
“Ingrid will take care of it.”
Nicky was silent.
Steven walked to her again. “You will be okay. I promise
you.”
“Where will she have to shoot me?”
“On your arm.”
Nicky took in a deep breath and nodded. “At least, I
have known Ingrid back in training to have a good aim.”
“I know that, this is hard for you but, it is
necessary.”
“Let me guess, these are Mr. Tommy’s instructions.”
“Well. He is aware but, Bill is coordinating
everything.”
“And Howls. Does he know?”
Steven nodded.
“So, the postmortem and stuff. How will they do that
with me still alive?”
“The Unit will take care of that.”
“Oh. Of course.”
He looked around the room and asked. “So, are you
ready?”
She took in a deep breath and nodded. “Okay. What do
I have to do now?”
“There’s a blue print of the President’s badge that
Erin left in her favorite bathroom in your dorm house. That is what Ingrid and
Natalie will go after. I want you to run ahead of them. Break the bathroom sink
and just be around till they show up. Do what you must but, give Ingrid a real
reason to shoot you.”
“If anything goes wrong?”
“Good luck.” He said, unable to provide anymore
hope.
Nicky sighed and thanked him.
She left the room.
