Michael
was standing in the balcony of Hamerton Chief building, waiting.
He
had his agreements to meet with a girl from class D. He leaned on the balcony
rail, and looked down on the school campus. There were many students heading to
the stadium which was the largest stage to accommodate all of them for the Christian
mass.
Michael
had his own plans. Although the girl he was going to meet was from ‘the other
side’, he had feelings for her.
Like
Steven, who was recently transferred from class D, Michael was in Class S. The
two classes were not in good terms because class S favored the seniors and they
score ties with class D frequently.
Seeing
a girl from Class D was risky for Michael. More because he was running for
President and class D had their own promising candidate; Natalie Bradley.
Despite that Natalie had not shown up in the school campus, Michael could not
have been too confident that he was the only one standing to replace Trevor as
President of Hamerton.
As he
watched, his cell phone buzzed in his trouser pocket and he took it out,
expecting that it was her message.
It
was.

One message
received: Erin
He
smiled and opened it quickly.
Seen you.
He
turned down to the grounds again, looking for her. He wondered where she could
have seen him from.
He
drew his phone close to call her before a voice interrupted him.
“Well,
well, well. If it isn't Michael Morningstar the school President.”
Michael
lowered his phone to behold a couple of seniors with built bodies and carrying
clubs.
He
folded his face with confusion. “Wait…What is going on here guys?” he asked,
tottering back. The rail supported him.
He
stared at them with popped out eyes as Duane Duncan, leader of the troupe, beat
a baseball club on his own palm.
“What
are those for? Duncan? Duncan?” Michael shouted.
Duane
laughed at him along with the others. “Oh, he even cries like a sissy.”
Michael
gulped with his Adam’s apple rising and falling. He dropped his phone that also
slipped down to the ground.
Duncan
pulled him from the rail and pushed him to the floor.
Michael
screamed in agony.
“Mr.
President. We have orders from our real president, Trevor to teach you a
lesson.” Duncan said to Michael before he hit him.
“…
and he hit me again and again. Him and his friends.” Michael concluded his
narration to Erin, Monday at noon in his ward.
Erin
sighed, pitying him.
He
laid on the hospital bed with a large part of his head bandaged. The doctor also
said that he broke some ribs and that he would not have a proper digestion for
weeks.
Emotionally,
Michael was shuttered. He pulled a sulky look at everything. Previously, he was
not a good guy but, even the people that he thought were better like, Trevor,
were very evil.
“Michael,
Trevor did not send those people to beat you up.”
“Duncan
said that himself.”
“Even
if he did. This is the work of Nicole. You know just what she is capable of.”
“What
would she gain by harming me? I am supposed to be a part of them. You don’t
know what you are saying.”
“I
know. I know because, I saw her and Steve plot something.” She leaned forward
to say discreetly. “I think that they kidnapped Trevor.”
Michael
narrowed his eyes. He considered the thought for a second and shook his head.
“Not possible.”
“It
is. That’s why they are framing him for hurting you. So that he wouldn't have
to return to Hamerton again. So that, their plans can prevail.”
Michael
was reluctant to accept the truth. “I don’t believe it. Duncan used to work
with Trevor when he was in the sect. He could only receive orders from Trevor.”
“You
said it yourself. Used to. Now that he doesn't, Nicky has been using Duncan.”
Michael
twisted his head to face another direction, remaining silent.
Erin
was mad at this. “Michael, you have to tell Hamerton what happened so that
Trevor can come back and everyone can be saved.”
He
turned to her. “I don’t care about Hamerton, Erin. And don’t talk to me about
favoring that criminal!” he raised his voice and groaned with pain afterward.
“Michael.
You know that Trevor did not hurt you. He doesn't have it in his blood to hurt
anyone, if you don’t do anything, many people will die.”
“I
have already lost my ribs, nothing else matters.”
Erin
felt her anger reach the brim of her neck. His humor upset other than make her
laugh.
She
thoughtlessly took a gun from her inside coat pocket. “Michael. I will not
hesitate to you this.”
He
raised his eyebrows in shock, looking behind her.
“Michael,
snap out of it! You have to understand that, Trevor did not hurt you.” She
continued, aiming the gun at him to gain his attention.
Michael
gasped, holding her suddenly right before a bullet was released with a loud-
PA!
