Chapter 4: Hannah Pared
“Corny Howls?” A heavy voice sounded over Corny’s cellphone when he received it.
“Yes. Who’s this?” Corny asked.
“We have your wife.”

***

Mrs. Bradley sat on the couch of the living room of her house, reading a women’s magazine.
A few days had gone by since she gave her statement at the police station, concerning Simon’s case. She was not called to the station again and individually, decided not to keep track of what happened to Simon’s murderer.
“Mmh. This seems interesting.” She said to herself as she came to a clause on the magazine. “How to quickly loose the excess belly skin after giving_” she read right before the front door sounded knocking.
“Oh.” She said, twisting her head to face the house entrance. “That must be Grey. He has been out with Junior since morning and he did not even care to mention where he was taking him.”
She got on her feet and slid her feet into her indoor slippers.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

The door sounded again.
“Coming!” she called, shuffling her way to the door. She unfastened the locks. “Grey, where did you guys go?” she asked, right before she opened it.
Her mouth dropped open when she beheld her husband, Nathan, standing behind the door in a traditional suit, holding their child. Greyson stood behind them, leaning on some luggage.
“Surprise!” Greyson said, when Mrs. Bradley became speechless with gladness.
As Mr. Bradley watched, his wife broke into a laughter and tears of joy.
Mr. Bradley smiled back. “C’mon honey? Aren't you going to let us in?”
“Nathan.” She reckoned, hugging him and the baby.
“I missed you too Diana.” Mr. Bradley replied.
She released tears of joy and drew back only to give him a long passionate kiss.
Greyson took the liberty to open the door wide and walk in with one suitcase. “I’ll leave you lovebirds alone.” He said, taking the luggage to another room.
The couple drew apart, laughing at each other.
“You almost hurt the baby.” He teased her.
“No, he was fine, I’m sure.”
He just smiled.
She took her hand, leading him inside the house. “What’s up with the attire and why didn't you tell me that you were coming?” she asked, also receiving the baby from him.
“Oh. This,” he touched his orange colored shirt, embroidered by black and yellow flowers. “It’s called Khanga.”
“I know that.”
“Yeah. So, it’s a souvenir.”
“Well, it looks great on you.”
“Thank you. I got you a pair as well. It’s in one of the suitcases. Khanga is the main dress code in Tanzania.”
“Thank you honey for remembering me.” She said, and gave him another kiss. “So, tell me why you didn't let me know that you were arriving today.”
He laughed a little. “I just wanted to give my darling wife a surprise.”
She beamed at him. “Aaw you are so sweet.”
Greyson returned to the room, scurrying to the door to get the other suitcases.
“Greyson?” Mrs. Bradley called him after she and Mr. Bradley, sat on one of the long sofas of the living room.
“Yes Mrs. Bradley?” Greyson replied, halting at the doorway.
“When you’re done with that, please come join us with some drinks from the fridge.”
“Thank you Mrs. Bradley.” Grey said, smiling.
The lady turned back to her husband. “So, how was your trip and everything? Will you tell us, Nathan Junior and me?”
Mr. Bradley sighed first with exhaustion. “Well, it was great. I will give you details later, you tell me first how you and the baby have been faring.”
She smiled. “We are okay.”
“Really? That’s great to hear then.” he said and peeped into the baby’s blanket. “Have I missed baby’s first steps?”
She laughed. “Nathan! No. He is hardly six months old.”
“Oh. That is good. So, Junior, you are going to have your daddy to teach you how to walk.” He said to the baby.
Mrs. Bradley furrowed her eyebrows, queering her husband’s statement.
He noticed the expression on his wife’s face and smiled at her. “Yes Diana. I am home for good.”

***

Natalie sat behind a monitor of one of the desktop computers in the computer lab of the Chief building of Hamerton.
After resigning from being President, a lot of students showed dissatisfaction with her decision. Many of them called her President, making commotion in the hallways and in the cafeteria, when she went for her meals with the local students.
Some of the teachers also told her that she should run for the position again. But, Natalie did not want to. She had her own plans.
“The students love you.” Ingrid said, occupying a chair beside Natalie behind the computer desk.
Natalie sighed. “We have been through this Ingrid. Whatever you, Ivan or anyone else say, I am not going back to being President.”
“But, why? You said in your speech that you love to govern Hamerton.”
“No doubt about that. I love following Trevor’s footsteps. But, I just want to be normal.”
“Normal, Natalie? Who says that, it ain't normal to be President?”
Natalie remained silent, waiting to log in to her email account.
Ingrid sighed. “Natalie? Think about it.”
Natalie shook her head a little. “No. I am not and I won’t.”
“Okay. So, what about saving Hamerton?”
Natalie twisted her head to face her. “Even you can do that. Just run for President.”
“Natalie, I am not as accepted as you are.”
“Of course you are. You are bright, smart, honest… a President material.” She said and turned back to the screen.
“That is not all that it takes. Hey, do you really think that of me?” Ingrid said and added before Natalie had the chance to consent or deny. “Well, I don’t know if I can stand in front of a big crowd and give a speech like you did yesterday.”
“Wait.”
“Wait what?”
I've got a reply from Caitlin.” Natalie announced with excitement.
Ingrid raised her eyebrows, turning to the screen.
She noticed Caitlin’s name along with her new email address, on top of other Facebook mails of Natalie. “Open it. Quickly!”
“It’s loading.”
“Oh, wow. She remembered us.”
“See, I told you that she used this new email.” Natalie said before the email opened.

Hallo Natalie. I am so sorry for not contacting you all this time but, be sure that, I was thinking about you.
My dad warned me not to communicate with you for the good of my security since, as you may have already know that, I was the target of bad people in your school.
I still can’t talk freely but, I miss you so much.
Tell me how you are faring as soon as you get this message.
Yours truly,
Caitlin.

“Reply Natalie, come on.” Ingrid urged her.
“Okay, okay. Amh… poor her that, she had to go through what she went through.” Natalie said, typing. “But, she is missing us.”
“Tell her that you are with me.”
“Sure.” Natalie agreed, typing;

Hey Caitlin.
I miss you very much as well. We, actually. I am with Ingrid right now. You must remember her from Brimstone.
We thought that, you were dead. I am so sorry for what happened to you.my dear friend Caitlin.
How did you escape?

“Natalie? Why did you ask her that? We already know how she run away.” Ingrid reproached Natalie as soon as she sent the message.
“Well, I just want to know more details. Coming from her, you understand.”
Ingrid turned to the screen, satisfied with Natalie’s reasons. “Okay. She must be a fast typist. There’s another message from her.”

Erin set me free and working with Mr. Dickson, I was able to contact my father. He sent me a ticket to Canada. He said that, my brother should remain behind and finish school. Since then, I have been living here, in Canada.

“Strange for her not to mention the year that she was in depression or something.” Ingrid commented after reading the email.
“Ingrid? Perhaps she wants to forget that part of her life.”
“If you say so.”
Natalie wrote;

I am very sorry but, the most important thing is that, you are alive.

Caitlin replied;

Truly. I thank God. Tell me. How did you find out about that sect in Hamerton?

Natalie said;

Erin told me. But, don’t worry. We have a badge that could crash their plans. The President’s badge.
According to Trevor, it can decode the bombs that the sect are planning to use to destroy Hamerton.

Caitlin said;

Oh. Erin, may her soul rest in peace. So, you have the President’s badge to help you save the school? How does it work? Who invented it, Trevor Tommy?

Natalie paused, typing at that message. “How does she know that Erin died?” she wondered loudly.
“Yeah. I admit that, that’s strange. Ask her how she does?” Ingrid suggested.
Natalie did.

How do you know that Erin died?

There was no reply.
Natalie asked again.

I learnt from Ralph.

“That explains everything.” Ingrid said, having read Caitlin’s response email.
There was another message from Caitlin.

Trevor is a hero. It was great of him to create a counter attack plan. Like that badge. I imagine that it was his idea, right?

Natalie wrote;

Yes. Have you also spoken to him? I gave him your email.

Caitlin replied;

No. Not yet. Where is he anyway? Did he graduate? Is he back in USA?

Natalie said;

No. Last I heard was that, he is in London.

Caitlin asked;

Oh really? He said that to you? That must be a good thing for you dear. Ralph told me that you two were going out.

Natalie smiled reading the text.

You are making blush. Yeah we are going out. But, no. He did not personally tell me that he is in London. But, hey, there are a lot of things we have to catch up; with you and well me and Trevor…. You know J

Caitlin also sent Natalie stickers.

Yes dear. Well, I still don’t have a boyfriend but, I am okay.
And Ingrid? Is she seeing anyone?

Natalie giggled, writing on Ingrid’s behalf.

She was dating this traitor guy, Steven. But, they are over now. Ingrid doesn't have long lasting relationships.

Ingrid beat Natalie at this. “Natalie!” she snapped at her. “Steven was not a traitor and it is not true that, I don’t have long lasting relationships.”
“Of course it is true.”
Ingrid shook her head. “And hey, how do you know that Trevor is in England? I know I don’t. Were you told?”
“Yeah. By Henry. Trevor is in England.” Natalie replied proudly, typing a response message to Caitlin.
“Okay… but, how is that supposed to be special? Hasn't he always been in England?”
“Well, yeah but, this time, his father wanted to send him back to California so he asked Henry to take his place.”
“Oh. That is typical for Trevor. He never liked to stay with his father.”
“Can you imagine? Henry also added that Corny’s wife was kidnapped and that Trevor’s life and mine are in danger.”
Ingrid was shocked. “What? Maggie was kidnapped?”
“Is that the name of Corny’s wife?”
Ingrid sighed and remained silent, digesting the news.
“Ingrid. What do you think? Trevor’s life could be in a very big danger?”
“Because he has Henry and his other duplicates to back him up, not that much. The one that I am worried about is Maggie. She is married to a police officer and she is strong but, she may not have the courage to withstand torture or whatever her kidnappers could give her.”
Natalie paused typing. “Oh. What are we going to do now?” she asked, already getting worried.
Ingrid was silent, thinking.
Natalie decided to send the message to Caitlin.

Hey Caitlin. Sorry but, I have to go. We have a lot of things in our hands right now.
Okay, catch you later.

After waiting for a few seconds, Caitlin’s message came.

Alright. Bye.

“Maybe, we should just stay indoors.” Ingrid suggested.
“That’s strange.” Natalie commented.
“Strange what?” Ingrid asked, glancing at the computer screen.
“Caitlin always uses farewell when we parted.”
Ingrid chuckled. “C’mon Natalie, bye is the fastest bidding. Maybe it was the closest word to her mind at that moment. Besides that, three years have already gone by, maybe she already forgot your ‘farewell’.”
Natalie nodded and begun to sign out of her email dress. “C’mon, let’s go to discuss that issue outside of here.”
“Alright.” Ingrid agreed and they left together.

HAMERTON Chapter 3 episode 7

HAMERTON 2
Thank you God for this opportunity.
Hallo new viewers!

Hamerton. A large school offering the finest Education to the students of the state and overseas. Natalie joins this school arriving from Brooklyn and she has grief over her lost friends who were murdered in Hamerton. She teams up with Ingrid and their fellow seniors against the House of Representatives to prevent a bomb blast that could cause a large massacre.

Previously on Hamerton; Trevor engages with Kehlan who informs him about a break-in in her room and how she was threatened to give information about him. They also share about their love lives and in the end, Trevor is worried about Natalie because of the SOHOT.

Continue;

10:00PM in Hamerton
Natalie washed her face on the bathroom sink, ready to go to rest. After the meeting with SOHOR and the threats of that strange girl, Natalie felt quite uneasy. She had a feeling at the back of her heart that, she did a wrong thing by breaking off with SOHOR. Though she tried not to, Natalie was very afraid of the girl.
She looked at herself on the mirror and sighed. Her thoughts traveled beyond her reflection. She prayed so much for the day to come so that the SOHOR could leave and she could start organizing about getting Hamerton a new allegiance.
She was very anxious about what Hamerton was talking about. She did not know whether word got out that she broke the allegiance or not. She was completely unaware about what the students were talking about.
She closed the tap and turned to the entrance. She gasped at the sight of Paula at the threshold of the door.
Paula was in her night robe and she held a long pipe in her hand. “You.” she growled at Natalie.
Natalie steeled herself to confront her. “Paula. What are you doing here and why are you holding that pipe?”
“I came to finish what I started before. I hate you Bradley!” she shouted.
Natalie frowned. “You are a murderer Paula. You have no heart. How do you even sleep with yourself?”
“That is none of your business!” Paula retorted aloud.
“You can’t hurt me Paula. There are secret cameras everywhere.” Natalie posed, trying to discourage her.
“So I heard.” Paula said, “But, not in the bathrooms.” She said and gritted her teeth, marching forward. She hit Natalie on the stomach with the pipe.
“Aah.” Natalie groaned in agony, holding her belly and dropping on the floor.
Paula opened the sink taps so as to bury the noise in the room with the water splash.
Natalie lost her correct sight, she felt as if the world was spinning around. The pain was too intense.
Without mercy, Paula hit Natalie again on the side making Natalie cry and lie on her back.
“This is for making fun of me and keeping me in prison you fool!” Paula shouted at her.
“What are you talking about?” Natalie cried indignantly. “I have never hurt you. Why are you doing this to me?”
“I hate you!” Paula screamed and raised the pipe in the air to hit Natalie again.
Natalie stared at the pipe in terror. She expected it to fall on anywhere on her body like a thunder bolt. She had to defend herself and the only part she had strength in was in her legs that were also close to Paula.
She kicked Paula’s feet, making Paula loose balance and fall backward, releasing the pipe and knock her head on the flooding sink.
Natalie watched as Paula drop on the bathroom floor, with a huge thud and a paddle of blood build up around the head.
Natalie panted and felt her stomach and ribs, struggling to get on her feet. She was so confused. She was almost sure that she killed Paula.

She placed groped hand on the wall for support and dragged herself to the exit to call for help.

5:00PM in New York City
"That will be all, thank you Mrs. Bradley.” A police officer told the lady after concluding her interrogation in his office.
Mrs. Bradley, who sat across the police’s desk, nodded and thanked as well, rising.
She left the room and emerged into a narrow corridor, walking to the hallway where Grayson and more other people were waiting for their loved ones to be bailed out or, to leave the interrogation rooms.
In the corridor, Mrs. Bradley met a cop maneuvering a delinquent to the cells on another side of the Police station. She shook her head, thinking just how the boy’s mother must have been feeling. She wanted neither of her children to grow up and have rude habits like Simon or his likes.
She entered the hallway and Grayson, the averagely tall young man with very black and glossy hair, rose to receive her.
He removed his headphones to communicate with Mrs. Bradley and joined his hands a bit anxiously. “So, how was it?” He asked.
“It was good that the NYPD believed me.” She replied and glanced at the baby in the trolley next to Gray. “How is he?”
“He has been well behaved. I think that, there is a chemistry between us.”
Mrs. Bradley smiled a little.
“Shall we go now?” He asked.
“Yes. I want to get out of this place.” she said, sounding a bit agitated.
Grayson nodded and led the way out.
Later, they sat in Mrs. Bradley’s car. Grayson was behind the wheels and Mrs. Bradley sat at the front seat, snuggling her baby close to her chest.
He started the engine and glimpsed at Mrs. Bradley’s face. She was quite disturbed. Maybe it was her first time to be a witness to something, especially because she also associated with the victim.
“So, do they know who killed him?” He asked, driving the car out of the station.
“No, but, they are looking for him. They also found out that, his friend died. Simon shot him accidentally, aiming at my daughter. Simon tried to rape Natalie, her boyfriend saved her.”
Grayson widened his eyes in puzzlement. “All that happened? When?”
“According to one of Simon’s friends who was arrested, last year.”
“Did Natalie tell you about it?”
“No. And that’s what makes me feel bad.”
Gray was silent or a moment, trying to imagine how everything happened. “Did she press charges?”
“No but, Simon ran away from New York a few days later. He only came back to lie to me about my daughter.”
“I am so sorry Mrs. Bradley.”
“Thank you son.” Mrs. Bradley replied warmly and cuddled her son’s cheeks. “I just can’t wait or the day to come when, our family will be rejoined again.” She said longingly. “I want all my kids with me, to watch them grow and take care of them.” she said and turned to Grayson. “And you too, Gray.”
Grayson smiled at that. “Thank you Mrs. Bradley.”
They drove silently for a while, until Mrs. Bradley received a phone call.
“Hallow honey?” She called, when she went on air with her husband.
“Hi dear. Have you already left the station?” Mr. Brad replied.
“Yes honey. I’m with Grayson here. He has been a great help.”
“Good. Please thank him for me. So, are you heading back home?”
“Yes honey.”
“Okay. I will try to send you something later. I am seeing my bosses in a few minutes.”
“Thank you darling. I wish you all the best in your meeting.”
“Thank you dear. Kiss Nathan for me.”
Mrs. Bradley laughed. “Okay. So, you have already named him after you?”
He laughed back. “No, no. But, calling him Nathan is unavoidable. After all, you did name him Nathanael.”
“Okay Mr. Daddy. I will kiss Nathan junior for you.”
“That’s even a greater name, Nathan Junior.”
Mom laughed. “I hope that he takes after you.”
“Sure, sure honey. Gotta go now, my superiors are here.” He said quickly.
“Okay. Goodbye, God bless you.” Mrs. Bradley bid her husband before the connection ended. She smiled to herself and lowered her chin to look at the baby. “You heard that, kiddo? You will be called Nathan from now on.”

HAMERTON 2 Chapter 1- episode 9

HAMERTON 2
Thank you God for this opportunity.

Previously on Hamerton; It happened that, Steven gave Natalie a gun, to use it in protecting Natalie and herself while he sacrificed himself to be known as the leader of SOHOT just in case Ingrid had to kill Nicky.

Continue;

Ingrid arrived at Natalie’s office later that day. After the brief moment at the park, the two had not talked much. Natalie was suddenly silent and rude to her.
They parted at the school gate. Natalie rushed back to her office and feeling offended, Ingrid retired to the dormitory.
After a while, Ingrid felt the need to address the issue and apart from that, there was a call for Natalie.
“Hello Ivan?” she greeted, walking to the secretary’s desk.
“Hi Ingrid.” He replied with a smile.
“Why are you still here? It’s late.”
He made a funny face, shrugging.
“Heey… there is something you’re cooking.”
He smiled, giving himself up. “I was hoping that after the ‘madam’ comes out, maybe we can have a drink.”
Ingrid grinned.
Just then the President’s door in front of them opened and Natalie appeared, looking very upset.
“Ivan!” she almost bawled. “Who came into my office while I was gone?”
Ivan drew his head back defensively. “I don’t think that anybody went in.”
“Are you sure?” Natalie asked reproachfully. “You did not let it out of your sight?”
“I only went for lunch at around 3.” Ivan replied.
Natalie frowned. “How could you leave while I was away?” she begun reprimanding him.
“Natalie!” Ingrid interrupted her. “What is wrong with you? Are you seriously going to reproach Ivan for going for lunch while you went out?”
Natalie twisted her head to face her. “My badge. It’s gone!”
Ingrid’s mouth dropped open with shock.
“But, you are wearing it.” Ivan said pointing at the blue badge on Natalie’s shirt pocket.
“No. It’s not this that I’m talking about.” Natalie said, sighing.
“Oh my God!” Ingrid exclaimed and walked to her at the office entrance.
Natalie let her in.
“But, did you look everywhere?” Ingrid asked throwing her glance around the room.
“Yes.” Natalie said and trod to her desk. She pulled a drawer on the front part of the desk. “It was right here. This is where I always put it.”
“So, who could have taken it?” Ingrid asked in obvious surprise.
Natalie turned to Ingrid, scowling at her.
“Why that look on your face?” Ingrid asked.
“You took it.” She claimed.
“What?” Ingrid asked with disbelief. She frowned at Natalie. “How can you say that? I was with you the whole time. Why would you think that I could steal something that could serve as a help to save the whole school?”
Natalie glared at her. “You are-” she begun before Ivan walked in.
“Miss President. You have a call.” He said.
She eyed Ingrid and turned to Ivan. “Who is it? Bring him on the line.” She said and rounded her desk to sit on her chair.
“I don’t think that I can make the connection from the dorm to here.” He said. His cheer was gone. Glancing at him, Ingrid thought that it was because of how Natalie treated him.
Natalie furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
“It’s your mother.” Ingrid said, tapping her foot to control her anger. She was very mad at Natalie for her awkward behavior.
Natalie took a moment and rose from her seat. “Okay.” She said to Ivan and turned to Ingrid.
“Before you say anything.” Ingrid said first. “I am going to help you find the badge.”
Natalie was still undecided about that but, she left anyway.

“Hallow?” Natalie called over the phone after receiving it from her matron. She drew to the exit of the room and took it. “Mom?”
“Hallow Natalie?” Mrs. Bradley sounded over the phone. “Are you doing okay?”
Natalie sighed. She was not any close to okay. “I’m great.” She lied.
“Nice to hear from you dear. I really miss you.”
Natalie managed a smile. She stared at the chocolate colored corridor wall opposite her. There was a lopsidedly set portrait. “I miss you too mom.”
“Thanks dear.”
“How’s the baby doing? Has he learned to walk?”
“Honey? He’s barely six months old.”
Natalie laughed a little. “Sorry. I was only teasing you.”
Mom sounded sighing. “Well, it’s a pity that neither you nor Nathan were here when Nathanael was brought into this world. He doesn't even know you.”
“He will get to know me. Tell him to be patient for just a few more months.” She said and added. “Tell me mom? How’s New York?”
“I couldn't say much. I hardly go out. But, honey? Tell me about you. You know that we haven’t talked in a while. And I honestly want to know what is going on in my daughter’s life.”
Natalie found a lying stool and raised it. She sat on it. “Your daughter has been very lonely mom.” She said sincerely. “With one of my friends gone and the other absent, I have been feeling very alone.”
“Really sweetie? A little bird told me that you had a boyfriend.”
Natalie chuckled. “Not just one.”
“What?” Mom asked in panic.
Natalie laughed. “C’mon mom, I’m just making fun of you. Seriously, I haven’t had a boyfriend ever since I became President. No time for that.”
“So you had one?”
Natalie was silent, judging her mother’s tone. “Amh… Why do you ask?”
“Natalie, I thought that we are supposed to talk about these things.” Mom said, whining.
“Mom. I didn't mean to keep anything from you. I just didn’t think that it was important to let you know.”
“I am your mother.”
Natalie was silent, out of words.
“Natalie?”
“Mom?”
“Is the guy a rich person? Did he take advantage of you?”
Natalie rose, rubbing the fingers of her free palm together. “Amh… By advantage you mean?”
“Did he sleep with you?”
Natalie widened her eyes. “No. no.” she denied defiantly and raised her tone. “Mom. Why are you asking me all these?”
“Oh. Thank God dear. You are safe. I should have known that, that boy was lying to me. I trust you my dear daughter.”
Natalie swallowed, narrowing her eyes. “Who is that boy mom?”
“Simon! Can you believe that he even told me that your boyfriend, maybe now an ex, came to America and shot his friend?” Mrs. Bradley asked and laughed to herself. “Who could believe that? You are sweet dear. You couldn't possibly socialize with criminals.”
Natalie’s face had folded in anger. “Mom? The only criminal here is Simon. I do not believe that he is back from his hiding either. If you knew what he did to me, you would never trust him again.”
“Oh I’m not going to trust him again. He drinks. How much I thank God that you are far from him. I get Goosebumps just imagining that you were close to him or something.”
Natalie’s mouth stayed shut. What her mom was imagining was a story for another time.
“Do you lack anything dear? I am going back to the office on Monday. If you need anything, probably I could get you at the end of the following week or… if it’s urgent, I’ll see if your father can send you anything.”
“Mom, I’m fine. You need not worry.” Natalie assured her.
“Okay. But, if you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to call me. Don’t ask anything from a man dear. It’s not proper. I taught you that.”
I am going to get you, Simon for this. Natalie thought in anger and told her mom, “Yes mom. I remember that.”
“Okay. It’s good to hear that you are fine. I love you dear.”
“I love you too mom.”
“Good bye.”
“Wait. Mom?”
“Yes honey?”
Natalie strolled on the silent corridor looking down as she said. “You don’t have to work if you still can’t.”
“I’m alright.”
“What about the baby?”
“Greyson, Mrs. Grey’s grandson is here. He has his difficulties but, he can help.”
“Mom, do you honestly trust Grey with Nathaniel?” she asked. She obviously had no confidence on the boy in question.
“If I give him a good tip he could be good.”
“What happened to Mrs. Grey?”
“Natalie?” Mom called reprovingly. “The lady has been gone for over three months now. Why do you think that Grey is living here?”
Natalie gasped. “What? Mrs. Grey died? How?”
“Well, she was older than she looked. It was only age that killed her.”
Natalie sighed. “May her soul rest in peace. So, Grey is staying at our house?”
“Yes.”
“Oh… Okay but, if you don’t mind me asking, what happened to his mom? Isn't she going to live with him?”
“The girl has been going around the world on adventures. She doesn't care about her son. It’s just like she damped him to me.”
“Oh. I am so sorry mom and I feel sorry for Grey too.”
“So, you understand why I have to work? I have to support You, Grey and Nathanael.”
“But, dad is doing everything.”
“No doubt. I will at least, share the burden.”
Natalie sighed. “I just hope that one day, all of our troubles will end.”
“We are in no trouble compared to what other people are going through. Nathan tells me that where he works, there are people who live in poverty. The kids don’t have education and they wonder around, begging. He hopes that once he has succeeded, he could start our own fund to help the less privileged children in Africa.”
“That will be a good thing.” Natalie consented.
“Yes dear. So, don’t feel bad. Whenever you think that you are in need pray. Don’t ever think that you are alone. We are here to support you and more than that, there is God.”
Natalie smiled. “Thank you mom. I will always remember that.”
“You are welcome dear. Take care.”
“Kiss Nathaniel for me, will you please?”
“I surely will.” Mom said and hang up.
Natalie lowered the phone. What her mom told her about Simon confused her. He was back and he went straight to fill her mom with ideas. Ideas that were largely true.
But, he had no right to tell my mom anything. She defended herself.

She decided to set that aside and focus on the missing badge.
