Chapter 4: A TUMULT
After
leaving Caitlin’s class, Trevor strolled through the corridor of the floor.
Like, Erin, he was agitated with the sudden meeting. The MPs usually talked
about boring stuff. For a second, he wanted to get back to Caitlin’s class and
continue chatting with her. They had a lot of things to catch up with and ooh
well…he was still single.
“Booo!”
Trevor
furrowed his eyebrows meeting an angry mob coming from the end of the corridor
matching up towards him.
“BOOO!
BOOO!” they kept on shouting, throwing papers at him.
“What?”
he exclaimed in a whisper. More students emerged from the classes bordering the
corridor, also marching towards him, “WE WANT A NEW GOVERNMENT!”
Trevor
swallowed, stranded at first. He could take the mob well if only they gave him
prior explanation before attempting to lynch him.
He
remained firm. The only thing he could do best. The school media managed their way through the crowd and though they thronged him from every corner, they
had some decency not to throw ink at his neat attire.
“Mr.
President.” They called separately. Some of them had cameras others had sound
recorders while others held notepads and pens.
He
only grinned.
“Mr.
President. What do you have to say about this current situation?” the leading
media personnel and a familiar face to Trevor begun asking.
“What
are you talking about?” he asked, carelessly.
The
crowd surrounding them still raised their voices angrily. Trevor opened his mouth just realizing how screwed he was.
The
reporter girl, Cheryl saved him the trouble. “The school misses the quality it
had. There are no sports this year, frequent electric power cuts, water
problems, to mention but a few.”
“Amh…
I have witnessed all these flaws but, I don’t see the reason to panic. See
guys, before you all started shouting and throwing things at me, I already sat
with the ministers and we extended the issue to the administration…it’s, it’s
all been taken ..The situation is being taken care of.” He paused admiring all
the lies that he could make up. Staying in private quarters with other top
leaders, he had no idea about water shortages or power cuts. Thank you for the enlightment Cheryl…he
thought. Probably the problems was the main agenda of the MP meeting. “I adjure
you, please be calm… amh, the issue of sports… we have sports it’s all being
organized, right now I was going to see the board personally, so, no need to
demand a new government, everything is being handled perfectly. The only
mistake is that we did not address you earlier.”
After
this, Cheryl and her colleagues paused questioning him. The crowd surrounding
them was also muted. Trevor had managed to cool them like ice. He smirked with
satisfaction. This gesture aired in all the television screens within Hamerton.
The ones that existed in the cafeteria, staff halls, administration offices
in all the buildings and boarding lounges.
Behind
one screen in a staffroom, in the primary section, teachers sat in a semicircle
watching Trevor Tommy as he calmed the mob.
“That
boy is a genius.” Mr. Dickson who just walked in said. Other teachers turned
around to him.
“You
know, the school has actually been tottering, Dickson.” One teacher commented.
“My students wore wrinkled shirts today. There was no electricity in their
dormitories the whole of yesterday.”
“I noticed that too.” Mr. Dickson agreed.
“I noticed that too.” Mr. Dickson agreed.
“There
must be a problem in the highest administration.” Another teacher contributed.
“But
these kids have paid a lot of money. They don’t deserve any of what's happening.” Mr.
Dickson said.
They
turned back to the screen. Trevor went on; “please, calm down.” He checked his
Apple™ watch and turned back to the reporters. “It’s class time now. Be all in
your classes. I assure you that your leaders are doing their best to restore
everything in order.”
“He
can really become a president one day or the Prime minister of England.” One of
the teachers in the room said.
“That
boy is an American Mr. Robert.” Mr. Dickson informed.
“Really?”
the all asked staring at him.
“Yes,
his father is a business tycoon in USA. Tommy Michael. I teach the boy’s
younger brother, Randolph Michael.” Mr. Dickson said and added with slight
pride.
“Ooh.
I didn’t know that.” Mr. Robert shrugged.
Mr.
Dickson eased himself in one of the seats inside the room to comfortably watch
the news.
